Harbour Cup League, until end of the Summer Series.Never won a prize??? ...then try the 2010 Harbour Cup League!
For the duration of the Summer Series, we are once again be running the Harbour Cup League. All scores for each qualifying helm in any of the Summer Series competitions (Merlins, Lightnings or Handicap) will be transcribed to the Harbour Cup League - just as we do for the Enterprise, Under-21, and the Helm-of-the-Month leagues.
At the end of the Summer Series, the helm with the best total from a maximum of eight scores will win the Harbour Cup. This gives you ample opportunity to work around summer holidays and other commitments, and still partake in sufficient races to accumulate a good score. Helms will of course also score points in Series races and other Leagues as normal.
The competition is only open to helms who have never won a first prize in a club Series competition, or the Harbour Cup itself. All we ask is that you sign-up before competing to indicate that you meet these qualifying conditions.
Lightning Open Southern Championship, Sat 17-July 2010.Thanks to all those club members who gave up their time to help run our most successful Lightning Open yet. 22 boats took part, including 12 visiting helms. Congratulations to John Claridge who won both the Southern Championship and the Derek Bayley Trophies.
New Lightning website. If you browse the internet, spend a few minutes at the new Lightning website: www.lightning368.co.uk.
Amongst other things, you will find a register of Lightning boats and their owners, of which CRSC now has 16! This makes us one of the biggest Lightning clubs, and also one of the few to have their own Class races. There is also a Forum for news and chat - well worth a visit.
Environment Agency Registration river licences are mandatory.Sailing Instruction No.2 (see Cookbook) will be enforced in all series races this year. Helms are required to declare their valid licence number on a sign-up sheet on the club notice-board on the day of a race (or beforehand) in order to earn points in club races. Points 'lost' will not be reinstated retrospectively. Sign-up is required for all races from 2nd May 2010.
PY Numbers for 2010.Due to their late arrival, and the earlier start to our season, this year's PY numbers are not as shown in the Cookbook. Please refer to the listing on the club notice board for this year's values, or see the list on the Publicity page.
Gate lock codes changed. The padlock codes have changed for the 2010 season on 21st March 2010. Details accompany your new Cookbook. If you did not attend the Champagne Party to collect your book, please contact a member of the Exec Committee to discuss delivery once you have paid your subscription.
Sail Training Opportunities. Please see the new webpage devoted to Training Opportunities at CRSC for 2010.
Safety Boat training / Longridge courses at CRSC / Sail Training days / Sunday Race Training afternoons. More details to follow.
You are also invited to read the fascinating account by Susan K of her experiences at the Longridge Sail Training that was held at CRSC in August 2009. LOGIN as normal, then click on 'Publications'.
CRSC Open Meetings for 2010.This year we will be hosting:
Enterprise League changes.Building on the growing success of the Enterprise Class within the Handicap Series, some changes have been made to the Enterprise League in 2010, to further boost attendence and create more competition. Firstly, there are two Enterprise Leagues - one for the Spring Series and one for the Summer - in which the best 8 scores shall be counted (not 12 as previously for the combined competition). Also, helms are allocated to Divisions within the League. The (better) Div 1 helms will have their race scores reduced by two points, those in Div 2 by one point, and those in Div 3 will be scored as normal. So a Div 1 helm will only get 18 points for a win, against 20 for a Div 3 helm. We hope this will create a tighter spread of results during each series - and so keep the competitive edge sharpened for longer!
Club Boats. The larger Club Boats can be found to the right of the garage: 3 Lightnings, 1 Solo and 1 Enterprise. The 3 Club Toppers can be found on the three left upper racks; dagger boards and rudder assemblies are in the garage, sails and booms under club house; note all are colour coded.
The Sailing Committee has introduced a Logbook for recording the usage of Cub Boats. This will enable us to see which boats are the most popular, who is using them, when and for what purpose. There is also the opportunity to record any problems with the boats which will enable corrective action / repairs to be undertaken as soon as possible. The Logbook can be found in the top drawer of the chest in the club entrance. PLEASE USE IT, IT'S FOR YOUR BENEFIT.
Helm & Crew Connections. To allow Crews to find willing Helms, and for Helms to find willing Crews, we have a new facility in the Members Only section entitled "Helm & Crew Connections". Helms and Crews alike may advertise their availability and requirements, and hopefully connections can be made to get more boats and more people afloat throughout the year.
To access this, LOGIN in the usual way, and click on the 'Helm & Crew' link.
